I'd expect to have sat at a loading screen for a host with connectivity issues such as for a host migration to a firewalled host or similar. So I'm not sure that it's a latency issue as 4 minutes is an awful lot of latency, unless perhaps a problem with minor latency triggers some broken logic in how the level ends (see discussion below).Ī connectivity problem as you mention, sounds possible but note that in these reports something did load up - it wasn't that the connection was lost, a new mission started (complete with opening cinematic of ship going to a $spacething) and we sat in that weird blank mission for a while with other people. I'm not an astrophysicist but I believe 4 minutes get you a signal to the closest pass of Mars (but not a reply, which would be double). To myself (and do not fear denmax, I am wrong frequently) I would consider these different ideas - lag suggests latency (time taken for a signal to arrive) whereas 'upnp problems' suggests connectivity (which time will not solve, without the game performing a host migration, human interaction or similar).įor example the lag or latency if I was using a satellite connection might be 500ms, bouncing it off the moon is something like 2000ms (2 seconds). If it takes too long however, like 2 to 5 minutes, just Alt + F4 the game and make sure to close the process in Task Manager. This happens a lot to me sometimes especially since I'm located in Asia and have uPnP problems.

This happens usually as a lag issue either on the side of the host or yourself.
